Mali Zagradac Beach, Brač | Small Pebble Cove on the Southern Coast of the Island

Mali Zagradac Beach is located on the southern side of Brač, near the coves of Veli Zagradac and Smrčeva Luka, in an area known for its smaller hidden bays beneath steep rocky cliffs and old vineyards. Compared to Veli Zagradac, this cove is smaller, quieter, and somewhat more enclosed, so even during the peak season, it is usually not very crowded.

The beach consists of fine pebbles, larger stones, and rocky sections along the edges of the cove. The water is very clear and transparent, and due to its location on the southern coast, it quickly drops to greater depths. The entry into the sea is generally pleasant in the central part of the beach, while the edges are somewhat rockier.

Mali Zagradac is surrounded by pine trees, maquis, and high rocky cliffs, creating a sense of seclusion from the rest of the island. The cove does not have an open view of roads or settlements, so the entire area feels quite natural and peaceful. During the day, the sounds of waves, crickets, and the occasional boat passing along the southern side of Brač can be heard.

Access to the beach is via a dirt road from the direction of Murvice and Smrčeva Luka. The final part of the journey to the cove is on foot over rocky terrain and is narrower than the access to larger beaches in the vicinity. For this reason, it mainly attracts those seeking a smaller, quieter cove without large crowds.

Parking is not officially arranged. Cars are left at widenings along the dirt road above the shore, followed by a short descent to the beach. During the summer, the number of spaces is limited, so it is advisable to arrive earlier in the day.

There are no beach bars, restaurants, showers, or shops at the beach. It is necessary to bring enough water, food, and sun protection as the cove lacks any additional facilities. There is natural shade along the edges beneath the pines, but the central part of the beach remains sunny for most of the day.

The underwater landscape around Mali Zagradac is quite interesting for snorkelling, as there are many small crevices and rocky terraces beneath the water. Due to the very clear water, the cove is also popular among those arriving by small boats from the southern side of Brač.

Mali Zagradac is not a beach for a typical all-day stay with facilities and catering options. It is more suited to those who prefer a quieter stretch of coast, a more natural environment, and smaller coves that are still accessed via dirt roads and a short walk through rocky terrain.
