Luka Beach in Pučišća | A Cove Reached by Unpaved Road

Luka Beach, or simply Luka as it is marked on Google Maps, is situated to the east of the centre of Pučišća, in a deep cove between Pučišća and Povlja. This is not a typical urban beach; rather, it is a large cove accessed via an unpaved road, which has helped it remain considerably quieter than the beaches along the promenade and the town centre. The final stretch of the road is uneven and dusty, necessitating slower driving, especially in summer when vehicles may pass each other on the narrow section above the sea. Due to this road, many visitors initially think they have taken a wrong turn, but the cove only reveals itself just before reaching the bottom.

The waters in the cove are almost always calm, as Luka is quite enclosed and well-protected from the wind. The beach consists of a mix of pebbles, rocky areas, and smaller concreted sections near the restaurants and boat moorings. The water is very clear and transparent, and due to the depth of the cove, there are no large waves even when stronger winds blow offshore.

Within the cove, you will find Restaurant Pipo and Restaurant Rojen - Rade, which leads many people to spend the entire day here without returning to Pučišća. Pipo is located closer to the beach and is known for its fish, shellfish, lamb, and a large terrace by the sea, while Rojen offers a more tranquil atmosphere and feels more like a family-run tavern. Both restaurants provide the option to moor a small boat or arrive directly by boat from the cove of Pučišća.

Luka is not a developed tourist beach with numerous facilities, sun loungers, and beach bars. People generally come here for the peace, swimming, and to spend the whole day by the sea without large crowds. The cove is particularly pleasant in the evening when the sun sets behind the hills, leaving the area in shade.

Parking is available along the unpaved road and near the restaurants, but the number of spaces is limited, so it can fill up quite quickly during July and August, often before midday. Some visitors also arrive by boat, as the cove is well-protected and suitable for anchoring.

Luka Beach feels more like a small local cove for swimming and dining by the sea rather than a conventional tourist beach. This is why it retains a more relaxed pace compared to the more famous beaches on Brač.
