BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
Luka is a settlement in the central part of Dugi otok. It is located under the island's largest hill, Vela Straža. On the northwest side is Savar, and on the southeast side is Žman. According to the last census, there are 123 inhabitants who are engaged in agriculture, fishing and tourism. The nearest ferry port is in Zaglav, from where there are regular lines with Zadar throughout the year. There is also an airport in Zadar.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND SIGHTS
The port was first mentioned in 1365 as Vallis Sancti Stephani. In the village there is a votive church of St. Nicholas. The place is dominated by a promenade from the 14th century.
BEACHES
The place is characterized by attractive promenades and natural beaches. The cove where the port is located is called Zlatna vala, which, in addition to the crystal clear sea, also provides a safe anchorage for sailors. Bok bay with healing mud is nearby. There is a private beach within the hotel Luka.
OTHER CONTENTS
Due to the developed fishery, the Port has an outstanding traditional gastronomic offer. Visit the Supina tavern and taste fresh fish specialties and homemade olive oil. At the beginning of August, there is a local folk festival.
SPORT
Water sports are just one of the options for an active holiday in the quiet Port. Apart from them, you can cycle, run, hike, hike or fish.
WHAT TO DO AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXCURSIONS
In addition to the possible daily exploration of other settlements on the island, thanks to regular lines with Zadar (from Brbinje, Zaglav, Salij or Božava), you can go to that beautiful city, which is the cultural and entertainment center of northern Dalmatia. Nearby is the old town of Nin with its cultural and historical heritage. In the village itself is the hotel Luka, with the arrangement of which you can go on a full-day trip to NP Kornati or PP Telaščica.
