BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATION
The town of Ugljan is the largest settlement on the island of Ugljan, located in the northwestern part of the island, and consists of nine hamlets: Čeprljanda, Lučino Selo, Batalaža, Sušica, Gornje Selo, Muline, Guduće, Fortoština and Varoš. The island of Ugljan, and therefore the town of Ugljan, is connected to the city of Zadar by numerous ferry and boat lines. The pier on the island of Ugljan is located in Preko. During the season, ferries sail on average every hour and their destination is the port of Gaženica in Zadar, while boats sail on average every 2 hours and take you straight to the heart of the old part of Zadar (Poluotok). The journey by both ferry and boat takes about 25 minutes. The island of Ugljan and the neighboring island of Pašman are connected by a bridge across the Ždrelašćica bay. The town of Ugljan is 45 km away from the town of Tkon on the island of Pašman, where the ferry port connecting the islands of Pašman and Ugljan with the city of Biograd is located.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
The first people known by name to have inhabited Ugljan were the Liburnians, an Illyrian tribe who built a settlement on the Čelinjak hill in the hamlet of Muline in the 4th century BC and fortified it. In the center of Ugljan, on the sandy beach of Mostir, there is the monastery of St. Jerome. The monastery was built in 1430 and is open to visitors during the summer. During the spring and summer, the Ugljan Tourist Board organizes a series of events united under the name ŠUG – Šetemoni Ugljanskih Guštov, which have been a trademark of the season in Ugljan for many years.
BEACHES
Ugljan has an exceptionally developed coastline with numerous smaller and larger bays suitable for swimming, diving and boat trips. The most famous beaches are Mostir beach - a sandy beach in the very center of the town suitable for children and non-swimmers, Luka bay - a sandy bay in Muline surrounded by pine forests, and Ćinta bay - a bay in Čeprljandi surrounded by steep large rocks suitable for boat trips.
OTHER CONTENT
In the town of Ugljan there are a number of restaurants, cafes and internet bars. In the center of the town there is the night bar "Ritam" the most famous place to go out on the island. A small children's playground is located behind the local elementary school.
SPORT
Visitors to Ugljan can enjoy numerous sports facilities. A tennis court is located in the hamlet of Varoš, the school playground is equipped for football and basketball, beach volleyball can be played on Mostir beach, and every village has a bocce court. Newly renovated bicycle paths allow for kilometers of rides from Mulino to Preko.
WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
The Ugljan Diving Center in the center of town organizes diving courses and one-day trips to the local underwater world with a professional team of diving instructors. Only a 25-minute boat ride separates you from the old town of Zadar, which abounds in museums, churches and remains of the past. From Zadar there is a wide range of excursions to national parks and nature parks.

In Ugljan, the vast majority of accommodation is made up of apartments and holiday homes for family tourism. You can also find accommodation at the Ugljan Hotel and the Stivon and Villa Stari Dvor guesthouses, and if you are a camping enthusiast, you will certainly find accommodation at one of our numerous campsites. The Muline port is available for mooring boats and relaxing for boaters.
