Biševo has no road traffic for tourist vehicles, so the island is accessed by boat.
The simplest departure point is Komiža on the island of Vis. Local boats, a regular ferry service, taxi boat transport, and numerous organised tours operate from Komiža to Biševo.
If the excursion includes the Blue Cave, Mezuporat is one of the main stops, so there is no need to arrange any special transport to reach the café.
Arriving by regular ferry service
Biševo can also be visited without a classic organised trip.
The regular ferry service connects Komiža, Mezuporat, Salbunara, and Porat, allowing for a longer stay on the island.
This plan is much more interesting than coming solely for the Blue Cave.
You can first arrive in Mezuporat, visit the cave, take a short break at The Blue Cave Caffe, and then continue to other parts of the island.
The timetable changes with the season, so it is advisable to check the time of the last return to Komiža before setting off.
The Blue Cave Caffe before or after the Blue Cave?
Both options are sensible.
If there is a wait before the visit, it is best to sit before entering the cave. This is convenient for coffee, water, or a cold drink, especially after the morning boat ride from Komiža.
The other option is to stop after returning from the cave.
At that point, you can take a break and decide whether to return immediately to Komiža or continue exploring Biševo.
If you have several hours available, the second option is much better.
After the Blue Cave, it is worth continuing to Porat
One of the most common mistakes when visiting Biševo is to arrive in Mezuporat, see the Blue Cave, and immediately return to Vis.
While the cave is the island's biggest attraction, the visit is relatively short.
On the western side of Biševo lies Porat, a large sandy cove with a long shallow area, natural shade, and dining options. A little further north is the quieter sandy Salbunara or Sarbunora.
Thus, The Blue Cave Caffe can serve as a good starting or ending point in Mezuporat, but it should not be the sole reason to limit the entire trip to this part of the island.

Is it suitable for families with children?
Yes, primarily as a place to rest while waiting.
It is practical for parents to have a table and the option to purchase water, juice, or a simple snack while waiting for the boat to the cave.
If you wish to swim properly with children after the visit, Porat is a much better choice than Mezuporat due to its sandy beach and long shallow waters.
Biševo can thus be a very good family outing if you do not plan just a short stop at the Blue Cave.
