Tavern Nevera is known for its fish and seafood dishes and its connection to the local fishing tradition. In such restaurants, it is best to ask what is available that day, especially when ordering whole fresh fish.

Tavern – Pizzeria Volat is one of the long-standing dining establishments in Stomorska. It offers pizzas, pasta, fish, and meat dishes, making it suitable for families and larger groups.

Restaurant Turanj combines fish and Mediterranean cuisine with a pizza offer, while O’ La La offers a wide selection of simpler dishes, pizzas, fish, and meat with a terrace right by the sea.

Restaurant Stomorska is part of the Royal Rina hotel but is also open to other guests. The terrace is located on the western side of the bay, on the way to Veli Dolac.

BOKun differs from classic taverns as it focuses on smaller sharing plates, seasonal Mediterranean bites, wines, and cocktails. It is more suitable for a lighter dinner, couples, and smaller groups than for a classic large family meal.

During the peak season, it is advisable to reserve a table in advance, especially if you want to sit right by the sea. The busiest time is between 19:30 and 21:30 when restaurants fill up simultaneously, and crews return from the port.

Church of Saint Nicholas

The most important religious building in Stomorska is the Church of Saint Nicholas from the 19th century. The dedication to the patron saint of sailors is directly connected to the history of the village, where many families lived from fishing, transporting goods, and sailing.

The church is located in the older part of the settlement, a few minutes' walk from the waterfront. It is not a monumental building or a large tourist complex, but a small island church whose value lies primarily in its connection to the local community and the maritime identity of Stomorska.

By car, one drives from Rogač along the main island road. The road is paved and straightforward, but the last streets in Stomorska are narrower, especially when descending towards the waterfront.

Parking in Stomorska

Parking is one of the most important practical topics during a stay in Stomorska. In the old and coastal part of the village, there is not enough space for a large number of vehicles, and the streets along the waterfront are narrow.

Stomorska is one of the places on Šolta where a holiday can be spent without a personal vehicle. It can be reached from Rogač by bus, and after arrival, most amenities are accessible on foot.

It is particularly convenient to stay in the center, along Riva Pelegrin, or on the stretch towards Veli Dolac. One should just pay attention to the location of the accommodation, as some houses above the bay have steep access.

To explore the rest of the island, one can use a bus, taxi, rented car, scooter, or boat. The bus network is not as frequent as in cities, so excursions should be coordinated with the timetable.

The Best Time to Visit Stomorska

July and August bring the most open restaurants, events, and boats in the port, but also the largest crowds. This is the best period for guests who prefer a livelier summer atmosphere.

June and September are often more pleasant for a quieter holiday. The sea is warm enough for swimming, the beaches have more space, and walks and exploration of the island are easier due to lower temperatures.

In the pre-season and post-season, one should expect that some seasonal restaurants, bars, and tourist services operate on reduced hours or are closed. Therefore, it is advisable to check which amenities are currently available before arrival.

In winter, Stomorska is very quiet. At that time, its local character comes to the fore, but the tourist offer is significantly reduced, and one should not expect the same selection of restaurants and activities as in summer.

Stomorska is suitable for guests who want to stay by the sea, have several beaches and restaurants within walking distance, and avoid the atmosphere of a large tourist resort.

It is a good choice for couples, families, sailors, and travelers who enjoy smaller island places. Families appreciate the proximity to Veli Dolac and easy movement without daily car travel, while couples can choose quieter rocky parts of the coast and dinners by the waterfront.

Guests expecting large sandy beaches, intense nightlife, shopping centers, or a wide range of organized entertainment will likely not find Stomorska to be their first choice.

Its value lies precisely in the opposite: morning swims, short walks to the waterfront, views of boats, dinners by the sea, and the feeling that everything important is within a small space that is quickly familiar.

Stomorska as a Base for Exploring Šolta

Although one can spend an entire holiday in Stomorska without traveling far, the village is also a good base for exploring the eastern and central parts of Šolta.

Nearby are Gornje Selo, the highest parts of the island, and access to the southern coves. Nečujam is known for its large bay and remains of an ancient fish pond, while in Grohote, one can explore the old core, the Church of Saint Stephen, and gallery spaces.

To the west, one can continue to Rogač, Donje and Srednje Selo, and Maslinica. For a full-day tour, the most practical options are a car or scooter, while some places can be visited by bus.

Stomorska remains a pleasant base for return, as it is lively enough in the evening for dinner and walks, but without the noise and intensity of larger tourist centers.

Why Choose Stomorska?

Stomorska is not organized as a tourist resort, and this is precisely its greatest appeal. The old port is still the center of the village, local boats share space with sailing yachts, and beaches, restaurants, and houses remain connected in one small island unit.

Here, one can leave the car parked, walk a few minutes to the sea, and choose a different swimming spot each day. In the evening, there is no need to plan transportation, as taverns, pizzerias, and terraces are spread along both sides of the bay.

Stomorska offers enough amenities for a pleasant holiday but has not lost the peace and measure of a small Dalmatian village. It will be best experienced by guests who expect clear waters, simplicity, good food, and daily life by the port, rather than a large tourist spectacle.
