The city of Šibenik is located in the central part of the Adriatic coast, between the cities of Zadar and Split (about 90 km away from each other). You can reach Šibenik by highway, from Zagreb, in about 3 hours drive. The Adriatic highway connects it with the surrounding tourist centers such as Vodice or Tribunj. The closest train station is Perković. From Šibenik, passenger ships sail to the small islands in the waters: Zlarin, Kaprija, Žirja and Prvić. There are dozens of small islands in the Šibenik area, some of which belong to the famous Kornati archipelago. This is why Šibenik is popular with sailors and sailors. Šibenik does not have an airport, the closest ones are in Split and Zadar. The city is located in a ten-kilometer deep bay where the mouth of the Krka River, said to be the most beautiful Croatian river, is located. There are several nature parks and national parks near Šibenik.

CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS

Šibenik is the oldest native city in Croatia, which means that it was founded by Croats and was not inherited or taken over from previous inhabitants. The city was mentioned as early as 1066 in a document of the Croatian king Petar Krešimir, and it was granted a city statute in 1290. In Šibenik, be sure to visit the UNESCO-protected buildings; the Cathedral of St. James and the Fortress of St. Nicholas, as well as other fortresses, the Šibenik City Museum and the promenade through the St. Anthony Canal.

BEACHES

Šibenik has one beach in the city itself, Banj or Crnica beach. It is a modern city beach with all amenities and a beautiful view of the old city center. Other beaches are located in the suburbs of Šibenik, including the beaches within the Solaris resort, Jadrija beach and Rezalište beach in nearby Brodarica. Swimming on the nearby islands in untouched nature and crystal clear sea is a special experience.

In recent years, Šibenik has experienced strong tourist development, accompanied by increasingly high-quality entertainment and catering. A special experience is a visit to the renovated fortress of St. Michael, now the most beautiful stage on the Adriatic, where numerous plays and concerts are held. Among the clubs we can mention: Makari, Inside and Godfather, Sclub and Godimento. Clubs near Šibenik are also often visited, such as Hacienda in Vodice and Aurora in Primošten. There are numerous restaurants spread throughout the city. We will mention the most appreciated: Pelegrini, Marenda, Kod Šimuna, Tomaseo and Nostalgija.

SPORT

Šibenik is a basketball and football city, so there are a large number of courts for these sports. The best European basketball player of all time, Dražen Petrović, is from Šibenik and spent his youth and first senior seasons there. Of course, there are also tennis courts, but you can also do a whole range of other sports such as; bungee jumping, diving and swimming, sailing and fishing, climbing and mountaineering, horseback riding, hiking and cycling.

Šibenik is surrounded by national parks. Nearby are the parks Krka, Plitvice Lakes and Vrana Lake, South Velebit, Paklenica, while on the sea there are the Kornati archipelago and Telašćica Bay. This is why the Šibenik area is a real mecca for lovers of untouched nature. You can visit the aquapark in Solaris, the Šibenik aquarium, the falconry center and the beautiful town of Skradin nearby, from which you can sail by boat along the Krka River National Park. The most beautiful is a boat tour of the Sv.Ante channel. Nearby is also an "adults only" island - Obonjan. Šibenik has three shopping centers; Dalmare, Spernova and City life.
