BASIC INFORMATION AND LOCATIONBiograd na Moru is a town and port in northern Dalmatia. It is located 28 km south of Zadar. It is located on a small peninsula and on the mainland. In front of the town are the islands of Planac and Sveta Katarina with a lighthouse. Biograd has very good connections with its hinterland, surrounding coastal settlements, and is also a ferry port for the island of Pašman. According to the last census, it has 5900 inhabitants who are engaged in agriculture, fishing and tourism. The main road, the Adriatic Highway, passes through the town, and some 15 km north is the exit to the A1 motorway, near Benkovac. The nearest airport is in Zadar, and Split is not far away either, some 108 km.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Biograd na Moru is a Croatian royal town first mentioned in the mid-10th century, and in the 11th century it was the seat of Croatian kings and bishops. In 1102, the Croatian-Hungarian king Koloman was crowned there. Tourism development began between the two world wars. The first guests were Czechs, and the first hotel was built in 1935 on the site of today's Hotel Ilirija. The town won a silver medal and the Silver Flower of Europe award in 2007 for horticultural and urban planning. In Biograd, visit the town's Local History Museum, the parish church of St. Anastasia from the 18th century, the church of St. Anthony from the 13th century, the basilica of St. John from the 11th century, and on Pašman, the Benedictine and Franciscan monasteries.
BEACHES
On the north side there is the pebble bay of Bošana, and on the south side there is Soline, where there is a large public sandy beach surrounded by pine forests. Three kilometers from the town is the Crvena Luka beach located in a sandy bay, and southeast of the town is the pebble beach Dražica with numerous interesting attractions.

WHAT TO DO AND EXCURSION OPPORTUNITIES
An interesting location in the heart of the Adriatic coast in the vicinity of the Krka, Paklenica and Kornati national parks and the Vrana Lake, Velebit and Telaščica nature parks offers a large selection of day trips. The proximity of Zadar and Šibenik completes the cultural offer.

Accommodation is offered by numerous private landlords, as well as the hotels Ilirija, In, Kornati, Adria, Adriatic, Albamaris, Bolero and others; the hostel Hrid, Mediteransko selo, the campsites Soline, Biograd, Diana and Josip, Mia and others. Boaters can find a quiet harbor in the marinas Kornati and Šangulin.
