CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Based on archaeological findings, the first inhabitants of the island of Vir were the Liburnians, an Illyrian tribe, who inhabited this area since the 9th century BC. From this period, there are three Iron Age sites on Vir that belonged to the Liburnians. The hillfort on the hill of Sv. Juraj (Bandiri), the hillfort in Gaj in the northern part of the island, and the burial mounds in the Gračić-Križice-Gajine area. Many marine archaeological sites around Vir also bear witness to this time. In addition to the aforementioned sites, visit the Parish Church of St. George from the 19th century, the church of John the Baptist, the Vir chapels, and the Venetian fortress of Kaštelina.
BEACHES
We recommend Jadro beach, a pebble beach with a sandy bottom and entertainment facilities. On the northern side of the island there is the pebble beach Biskupljača, which becomes a promenade in the evening, and in the Sapavac bay there is paleoid mud that is suitable for treating rheumatic problems. All of them are rich in gastronomic and recreational facilities. Wibit's rubber aquapark is one of the attractions on the Vir beaches.
