Tiha Beach in Nečujam – a small bathing spot in a quieter part of the large bay

Tiha Beach is situated in the eponymous bay on the northeastern side of Nečujam, away from the main bathing area near the central beach and the Pools complex. It is located in a residential area along Tiha Street, approximately 900 metres to one kilometre from the centre of Nečujam and the main beach. It takes about 12 to 15 minutes to walk there from the centre, although some parts of the route involve uphill and downhill sections. The location of Tiha Bay is clearly marked on the official map of Nečujam, and accommodation facilities in this part of the settlement indicate a distance of around 800 metres to the centre.

From the centre of Nečujam, an asphalted local road leads to the beach through the apartment complex. It is possible to drive a car or scooter almost to the shore, but the final stretch passes through narrow streets between houses and includes several steeper sections. The road is passable for cars, but passing can be challenging when vehicles are parked along the edge. For pedestrians, the route is straightforward, but the return journey to the higher parts of the settlement involves an ascent that can be tiring during the hottest parts of the day.

The beach does not have a large, organised public car park. Parking is available in a limited number of spaces along the road and in smaller lay-bys nearby, with care needed to avoid blocking access to private homes. In the summer months, finding a spot close to the sea can be difficult, and experiences from this part of Nečujam suggest that vehicles may sometimes need to be left further away, requiring a walk to the beach.

Tiha is a small local bathing area with several distinct sections of shoreline. The main area by the sea is covered with pebbles, while rocks and concreted surfaces are found at the sides in front of houses. Due to its limited width, the beach fills up quickly, especially in the mornings and during the peak season. It is not a large, well-equipped beach like the central bathing area in Nečujam, but rather a smaller space primarily used by guests of nearby apartments and residents of this part of the bay.

Access to the water on the pebbly section is generally gradual, but there are stones of various sizes in the shallows. Water shoes can be beneficial for children, older adults, and anyone who finds uneven rocks uncomfortable. The bay is deeply recessed and well-protected from most waves, so the sea is often calm. However, there are moorings and smaller private boats in Tiha, so caution is advised when swimming further from the shore.

Natural shade depends on the specific part of the shoreline. Pines and other Mediterranean vegetation grow behind the beach, but the shade does not cover the entire pebbly area nor is it available all day. In the sunniest parts, it is advisable to bring your own umbrella. Due to the limited space, large umbrellas and other equipment can further restrict the area available for towels.

There is no permanent beach bar, restaurant, or significant tourist infrastructure at the beach. One should not expect organised rentals of sun loungers and umbrellas, a water park, or other commercial facilities that are available at the main beach in Nečujm. There are also no confirmed public toilets, showers, or changing cabins available. Shops, cafés, and restaurants are located in the central part of the settlement, so it is best to bring water, food, and other necessities before arriving. The official tourist description of Nečujm highlights the beaches distributed on both sides of the large bay and in smaller surrounding coves, including Tiha.

Tiha Beach is suited for bathers who prefer a sheltered bay and distance from the central crowds over a wide beach with numerous amenities. Its advantages include calm waters, asphalted access, and its location among holiday homes, while the main limitations are the small space, narrow access roads, uncertain parking, and the absence of catering options directly on the shore.
