Tiha Beach in Nečujam – a small bathing area in a quieter part of a large bay

Tiha Beach is situated in the eponymous bay on the northeastern side of Nečujam, away from the main bathing area near the central beach and the Pool Complex. It is located in a residential area along Tiha Street, approximately 900 meters to one kilometer from the center of Nečujam and the main beach. It can be reached from the center in about 12 to 15 minutes on foot, although some parts of the path involve uphill and downhill sections. The location of Tiha Bay is clearly marked on the official map of Nečujam, and accommodation facilities in this part of the settlement indicate a distance of about 800 meters to the center.

From the center of Nečujam, an asphalted local road leads to the beach through an apartment complex. It is possible to drive almost to the shore by car or scooter, but the last part passes through narrow streets between houses and includes several steeper sections. The road is passable for personal vehicles, but passing may be difficult when cars are parked along the edge. For pedestrians, the route is straightforward, but the return to the higher parts of the settlement involves an uphill climb that can be strenuous during the hottest hours.

The beach does not have a large organized public parking area. Parking is available in a few spots along the road and in smaller widenings nearby, with care taken not to block access to private homes. In the summer months, finding a spot close to the sea can be challenging, and experiences from this part of Nečujam confirm that vehicles may sometimes need to be left further away, requiring a walk to the beach.

Tiha is a small local bathing area with several distinct parts of the shoreline. The main area by the sea is covered with pebbles, while there are rocks and concrete surfaces in front of houses on the sides. Due to its limited width, the beach fills up quickly, especially in the morning and during the peak season. It is not a large organized beach like the central bathing area in Nečujam, but rather a smaller space primarily used by guests of nearby apartments and residents of this part of the bay.

Entry into the sea at the pebbly section is generally gradual, but there are stones of various sizes in the shallow water. Water shoes may be useful for children, elderly individuals, and anyone who finds uneven rocks uncomfortable. The bay is deeply recessed and well protected from most waves, so the sea is often calm. However, there are moorings and smaller private boats in Tiha, so caution is advised when swimming further from the shore.

Natural shade depends on the exact part of the shoreline. Pines and other Mediterranean vegetation grow behind the beach, but shade does not cover the entire pebbly area nor is it available throughout the day. In the sunniest parts, it is advisable to have your own umbrella. Due to the limited space, large umbrellas and other equipment may further restrict the area available for towels.

There is no permanent beach bar, restaurant, or significant tourist infrastructure at the beach. Do not expect organized rentals of sun loungers and umbrellas, water parks, or other commercial facilities that are available at the main beach in Nečujm. There are no confirmed permanently available public restrooms, showers, or changing cabins. Shops, cafes, and restaurants are located in the central part of the settlement, so it is best to bring water, food, and other necessities before arriving. The official tourist description of Nečujm emphasizes the beaches located on both sides of the large bay and in smaller surrounding coves, including Tiha.

Tiha Beach is suitable for bathers who prioritize a sheltered bay and distance from the central crowds over a wide beach with numerous facilities. Its advantages include calm waters, asphalt access, and a location among holiday homes, while the main limitations are the small space, narrow access roads, uncertain parking, and the absence of catering services directly on the shore.
