The museum, founded in 1979., is located in Škrip, the oldest settlement of the island. It is located in the ambient within the house, which is partially closed the Illyrian walls. The museum also includes the space of a Roman mausoleum built in the late 3rd century, in the time of Emperor Diocletian. His palace is situated in the Split. Cultural-historical collection preserves the material about the period after the arrival of the Croats; it presents architectural and maritime tradition of the island and its rich literary heritage. The exhibit includes furniture of wealthy families from the villages on the island. In the ethnographic collection are objects that belonged to agricultural workers, and are related to sheep farming, viticulture, olive growing, fishing and processing of stone. Shown is even a typical island cuisine.
