Mala Banda Beach – A Serene Pebble Cove with Crystal-Clear Waters

Situated to the west of Sumartin's center, Mala Banda Beach is a charming and lesser-known cove on the island of Brač. This small beach is celebrated for its exceptionally clear waters and fine pebbles, offering a more tranquil experience compared to the busier urban beaches.

The beach's intimate setting, nestled within a natural cove, enhances its peaceful ambiance. Visitors are greeted by turquoise waters that are remarkably transparent, with a gentle slope into the sea, making it an inviting spot for families with children. The calm waters and the sense of seclusion attract those looking to escape the crowds, despite its proximity to the town center.

Covering the shoreline are soft white and beige pebbles, while the surrounding area features low vegetation and small pine trees. Natural shade is limited, so bringing an umbrella or arriving early in the day is advisable during the summer months.

While Mala Banda Beach lacks extensive tourist facilities, several amenities can be found nearby during the peak season:

  • A small kiosk or beach bar offering drinks and coffee,
  • Options for renting umbrellas,
  • A few dining establishments within walking distance towards the center of Sumartin.

Parking is available near the beach, but spaces are limited. Most visitors opt to park along the road or in small pull-offs above the beach, followed by a short walk to the water. Therefore, arriving early in the morning is recommended, especially in July and August.

This beach is well-suited for:

  • Relaxed swimming,
  • Families,
  • Snorkeling and swimming,
  • Stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking,
  • And, most importantly, it is ideal for children!
