Carl Schubert, one of the Vienna's royals, argued that the old part of the park with local and exotic flora was planted between 1845 and 1860. Much of the park has a romantic concept with decorated buildings such as the Swiss House, Music Pavilion and it was built in the style of "raw nature". Crude limestone rocks beneath the exotic trees from the Caucasus and California stretch magnolia tree, banana. The particularity of this park is the camellia flowers, beauty from the Philippines, who also became a symbol of Opatija.
