The church of St. Martin in Kotišina was probably built in the second half of the 14th century, after the departure of the Ottomans from this area. At the end of the 17th century was extended almost to the same extent as the medieval one. The church existed as a part of the medieval cemetery which is still visible through a number of 15th century tombstones decorated with moon relief. As an archaeological site, the church of St. Martina in Kotišini is of exceptional historical significance for the town of Makarska and its surrounding area due to the fact that it is the only untouched structure remaining from the time before the arrival of the Ottoman Empire.
