Smrčeva Luka on Brač | Hidden Cove Between Murvice and Vela Farska

Smrčeva Luka is located on the southern side of Brač, between Murvice and the cove of Vela Farska, approximately ten kilometers west of Bol. The cove is quite isolated from the main tourist areas and is surrounded by vineyards, dry stone walls, pine trees, and steep rocky slopes, giving the entire area a very secluded and peaceful atmosphere.

Unlike the larger and more famous beaches around Bol, Smrčeva Luka does not have a wide open coastline but rather a combination of a small pebble beach, rocky terraces, and natural rocks along the sea. The water is very clear and deep just a few meters from the shore, with a dark blue color characteristic of the southern side of Brač. In some areas near the rocks, people often enter the water directly from the stones.

Access to the cove is now much easier than in the past, as an asphalt road through Vidova Gora leads most of the way to the southern coast. The last part of the access to Smrčeva Luka is still unpaved, but it is a relatively short section. The road is narrow in some places, so it is advisable to drive slowly during the summer, especially when passing other vehicles.

Parking is not officially organized, but there are several widenings along the unpaved road above the cove where people leave their cars. It takes a few minutes to walk from the parking area to the sea. Due to limited space, the number of vehicles during July and August can be quite large early in the day.

A unique feature of Smrčeva Luka is that the cove lacks typical tourist infrastructure and large crowds, yet there are a few amenities nearby. There are restaurants Ciccio and Begovi dvori by the sea, allowing visitors to stay for lunch or drinks without returning to Bol.

There is more natural shade than on some other southern beaches of Brač, as pine trees along the coast create shade along the edges of the cove in the afternoon. When the maestral wind blows, the cove remains slightly cooler than the more open beaches towards Bol, which many people highlight as one of the advantages of this part of the coast.

Smrčeva Luka is popular among those seeking a quieter part of Brač without beach bars, loud music, and large tourist facilities. Many sailors visit the cove during the day as the water is very clear and well-sheltered for short stops.

The entire area around the cove appears quite wild and natural—there are no large buildings or apartment complexes, just a few stone houses, vineyards, and old roads that run along the southern side of the island. This is why Smrčeva Luka leaves a completely different impression compared to the more developed beaches on the northern side of Brač.
