The monastery was erected and arranged around the church of Sv. Mary of the Angels. The history of the monastery goes back to 1223. In 1780 the building was baroque, and then the altar of the famous master Sebastian Petrucci was erected. The new altar is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the ascended sky, and the church is named after this new altar. The bell tower was added around the year 1800.For a full hundred years, from 1802 to 1903, the nuns were teachers of a women's public school in their monastery. After the First World War, they kept a convict for the city's high school students. With the advent of the communist regime, the sisters were forced to seek new forms of activity and sources of livelihood.
