The Rupe Ethnographic Museum is a museum in Dubrovnik located at Rupa 3, on the site of the old granary. The granary was a building from 1590. It was located on the island of Lava, which is in the oldest part of town. The building was built by the Dubrovnik government. The purpose of the building was to preserve the city's grain reserves. The grain was placed in 15 large wells, which were carved in stone on the ground floor. The building has been rebuilt and some renovations have been made compared to the original building. The ground floor was left in its original layout. Three wells were opened, which were enclosed by a fence for architectural emphasis. The permanent exhibition of the museum consists of exhibitions of the traditional culture of the Dubrovnik region. On the first floor there are economic and material goods. On the second floor there are exhibits of spiritual culture: folk costumes, textiles, folklore, lace and exhibits showing customs. The refurbishment of the granary into a museum lasted from December 1987 to October 1989. The value of the works was US $ 1,694,469.28. The museum covers an area of 1263 m2.
