The beginnings of the natural history museum activity in Dubrovnik date back to 1872, when the Museo Patrio was established. In addition to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, its foundation was Antun Dropac's private natural history collection. In the first half of the 20th century, the Museum's holdings were complemented by Baldo Kosic's collections of birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals of the Dubrovnik region. The Museum has also hosted many of its own and guest exhibitions to this day. In the local community, the Museum is also recognized for its museum education projects and public involvement in various activities.
