Maslinica is a settlement on the island of Šolta, the only one on its western coast. In front of Maslinica lies an archipelago of 7 islets, namely Balkun, Rudula, Grmej, Stipanska, Saskinja, Polebrnjak and the Kamičić rock. The largest of them is Stipanska. According to the last census, Maslinica has 174 inhabitants, who are mainly engaged in tourism. Maslinica can be reached by bus or car from the ferry port in Rogač. The bus and the arrival of the ferry or catamaran are coordinated, and the ride takes about 15 minutes.
CULTURE, HISTORY AND ATTRACTIONS
Maslinica was founded in 1703 when the noble Marchi family asked the Venetian governor for permission to found a new settlement and build a castle with defensive towers to defend against frequent pirate attacks. The castle has now been converted into a luxury hotel and restaurant and has its own helipad. Beautiful olive groves complement the value of this Baroque castle and folk stone houses. On the islet of Stipanska there are the remains of an early Christian church with a Benedictine monastery from the 5th/6th century.

The most famous are the sandy ones in Šipova Bay and the pebble ones in Šešula Bay. Šešula Bay is also attractive to sailors because it offers a safe anchorage and a unique gastronomic experience.
