Bistro-Pizzeria Rogač – Pizza, Grill, and Quick Meals by the Ferry Port

Bistro-Pizzeria Rogač is situated at the ferry port, on the western side of the dock, just a few minutes' walk from where ferries from Split arrive. It is one of the first dining establishments noticed upon arrival in Šolta and serves as a convenient spot for coffee, breakfast, or a meal while waiting for a ferry, bus, or car pickup.

Although it is called a bistro-pizzeria, this is not a traditional restaurant for a lengthy dinner with multiple courses. The menu is simpler and tailored for guests who want pizza, grilled dishes, squid, salad, or something quick before continuing their journey. Due to its location, it is particularly useful for travelers who have just arrived on the island, people working at the port, as well as sailors and guests from nearby apartments in Rogač.

Pizza occupies an important part of the menu and can be ordered in several common combinations. The dough is thin and straightforward, without attempts to replicate Neapolitan or any other specific style of pizza. It offers a classic pizzeria selection expected in a smaller island town, suitable for lunch, dinner, or takeout.

In addition to pizzas, the menu includes ćevapi, burgers, skewers, chicken dishes, and other grilled items. Fried squid, fries, salads, sandwiches, and simpler dishes that do not require long waiting times are also available. This makes the bistro practical for families where everyone wants something different, as well as for larger groups that do not exclusively seek a fish restaurant.

This venue is not primarily visited for fresh fish, peka, or more complex Dalmatian cuisine. For such dinners, better options can be found on the quieter side of the bay. Bistro-Pizzeria Rogač serves a different purpose: it offers familiar and filling dishes at an accessible location, without the need for extensive planning or reservations.

Food can be taken away, which is especially convenient for guests heading to the ferry, staying in nearby apartments, or wanting to take pizza to the beach. During the summer months, when a larger number of travelers arrive in a short time, it should be noted that orders may take longer. Therefore, it is best to order takeout a bit earlier, especially just before the ferry departure.

In front of the establishment, there is an outdoor terrace with views of the port, parked cars, ferries, and boats. It is not a secluded terrace right by a calm shoreline like that in Pasarela, but a livelier place where the rhythm of the port is constantly felt. Some may appreciate this liveliness, while guests seeking a completely quiet dinner may prefer to go further from the dock.

The bistro opens early, allowing for morning coffee before the first departures to the interior of the island. Along with coffee and other hot drinks, juices, beer, wine, and a standard selection of non-alcoholic beverages are served. Due to its long opening hours, it is also useful later in the evening when the choice of open establishments in Rogač is limited. Since the opening hours may vary depending on the season and ferry schedule, it is advisable to check before visiting outside the main summer period.

Visitors can reach the bistro directly via the main road that ends at the ferry port. There are several parking areas nearby, but part of the space is designated for vehicles waiting to board the ferry. It is not advisable to leave a car in the boarding lane or in a spot that obstructs traffic through the port. For a shorter visit, it is easiest to find a free spot in the public parking nearby and continue on foot to the bistro.

For guests arriving by ferry, a car is not necessary as the establishment is right by the dock. It is easily accessible with luggage, strollers, or after disembarking from a bus. The access is flat and without long stairs, making it practical for individuals with mobility difficulties.

Bistro-Pizzeria Rogač is best viewed as a practical island spot for pizza, grill, squid, coffee, or takeout meals. Its main advantages are proximity to the ferry, early opening hours, a wide selection of simple dishes, and the ability to eat something without leaving the port. For a romantic dinner and a peaceful sea view, there are better choices, but when a quick and straightforward meal is needed before a journey or after arriving in Šolta, this is one of the most practical places in Rogač.
