How to Get to Kod Jakše?
You cannot reach the restaurant by car.
Biševo does not have the tourist road traffic that exists on Vis, so Porat is primarily accessed by boat.
The easiest way is to depart from Komiža, which is the main departure point for Biševo.
You can reach Porat via a regular boat line, taxi boat, private vessel, or as part of an organised trip.
Upon arriving in Porat, the restaurant is practically on the beach, and there’s no serious walking required to get there.
Kod Jakše After the Blue Cave
One of the best combinations for a trip to Biševo is visiting the Blue Cave in the morning, followed by Porat and lunch at Kod Jakše.
The Blue Cave is visited via Mezuporat, and the actual visit is relatively short. Instead of immediately boarding a boat back to Komiža, you can continue to the western side of Biševo.
Porat is great for a few hours of swimming as it has fine sand, a long shallow sea, and natural shade, while Kod Jakše takes care of lunch without the need to bring food for the entire day.
This way, Biševo is experienced as an island, not just as a place where the Blue Cave is located.

However, it should be noted that the water towards the inner part of the bay is very shallow. Larger vessels must remain far enough from the sandy shore.
Porat is also not a marina with fully protected berths, so it’s advisable to check the forecast before staying for an extended period. The bay is particularly sensitive to winds and waves from the southwest.
For lunch on a calm summer day, arriving by boat is very practical, and this method of visiting is one of the reasons why Kod Jakše has the character of a true island restaurant.
Can You Walk There?
Yes.
Porat is connected by old island paths to Salbunara, Poje, and other parts of Biševo.
If you’re spending the whole day on Biševo, you could, for example, walk from Salbunara to Porat, have a swim, and finish your visit with lunch at Kod Jakše.
Such a walk during July and August is better planned outside the hottest part of the day, as some areas of Biševo are completely exposed to the sun.
Should You Make a Reservation?
During the main season, making a reservation is a good idea, especially for larger groups or if you want to have lunch precisely when a larger number of excursion boats arrive in Porat.
The restaurant is small, and the number of visitors to Biševo can change very quickly throughout the day.
If you’re arriving by your own boat or on a private trip, it’s even more practical to arrange lunch in advance and adjust your arrival accordingly.
Outside the main summer season, it’s also advisable to check the opening times before setting off, as Kod Jakše is a distinctly seasonal island establishment.
Kod Jakše or Konoba Tomić?
There are several dining options in Porat, so it’s useful to know that Kod Jakše and Konoba Tomić are not the same establishment.

There’s no need to decide in advance based on a large menu. On a small island like Biševo, it’s often a better strategy to see what’s available that day and choose what looks best.

For a particularly tranquil experience of Biševo, the best months are June and September, when the sea is still pleasant, and Porat is not under the pressure of the highest number of day trips.
One of the Best Ways to Slow Down on Biševo
Kod Jakše should not be viewed merely as a restaurant to visit on Biševo just for lunch.
Its value lies in the entire combination: the boat from Komiža, the Blue Cave, sandy Porat, swimming, and a table just a few steps from the sea.
After a few hours of exploring, such a simple lunch often suits Biševo better than a formal restaurant experience.
