Kaštil Gospodnetić in Dol on Brač | Dinner in a Renaissance Castle Above Postira

Kaštil Gospodnetić - Agritourism is located in the village of Dol, a few kilometers above Postira, in an old stone castle from the 16th century surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and gardens. The approach through the narrow stone streets of Dol feels entirely different from seaside restaurants — there is no waterfront, crowds, or large terraces by the beach, but rather an old Brač castle and a courtyard that in the evening resembles a private family estate.

The restaurant is situated within the historic home of the Gospodnetić family, with some tables located in the old stone rooms, while the most sought-after area is the large terrace overlooking the valley, the sea, and the interior of Brač. In the evening, the atmosphere becomes quite calm, with the sounds of cicadas and the kitchen from the open part of the restaurant being the main background noise.

The food is based on traditional Brač and Dalmatian cuisine, featuring many dishes that are prepared slowly and in advance. The most famous dishes include lamb and veal under peka, octopus under peka, homemade prosciutto, cheeses, black risotto, homemade bread, and spit-roasted lamb. Most of the ingredients come from the surroundings of Dol or from their own estate, and they offer homemade wine, olive oil, and brandies. Peka is generally ordered in advance when making a reservation.

The venue is not designed as a restaurant for a quick lunch after the beach but rather for a longer dinner that draws visitors into the interior of the island. Service is at a slower pace, which suits the overall ambiance of the castle and courtyard.

Parking is available along the access road to the restaurant and along the road through Dol, and according to guest comments, there is usually enough parking even during the season.

Reservations are practically mandatory during the summer, especially for evening slots and dishes under peka. The restaurant often hosts smaller weddings, family dinners, and private events due to the space of the old castle and the large stone courtyard.
