Kaštil Gospodnetić in Dol on Brač | Dinner in a Renaissance Castle Above Postira

Kaštil Gospodnetić - Agritourism is situated in the village of Dol, a few kilometres above Postira, in a 16th-century stone castle surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and gardens. The approach through the narrow stone streets of Dol feels distinctly different from seaside restaurants — there is no promenade, crowds, or large terraces by the beach, but rather an old Brač castle and a courtyard that, in the evening, resembles a private family estate.

The restaurant is housed within the historic home of the Gospodnetić family, with some tables located in the ancient stone rooms, while the most sought-after area is the large terrace overlooking the valley, the sea, and the interior of Brač. In the evening, the atmosphere becomes quite tranquil, with the sounds of cicadas and the kitchen from the open part of the restaurant being the main background noise.

The cuisine is based on traditional Brač and Dalmatian dishes, with many meals prepared slowly and in advance. The most renowned offerings include lamb and veal cooked under peka, octopus under peka, homemade prosciutto, cheeses, black risotto, homemade bread, and spit-roasted lamb. Most ingredients are sourced from the surrounding area of Dol or from their own estate, and they also offer homemade wine, olive oil, and brandies. Peka is generally ordered in advance when making a reservation.

This establishment is not designed as a quick lunch spot after a day at the beach but rather for a leisurely dinner that draws visitors into the island's interior. Service is at a slower pace, which complements the overall ambience of the castle and courtyard.

Parking is available near the restaurant entrance and along the road through Dol, and according to guest feedback, there is usually sufficient parking even during the peak season.

Reservations are practically essential during the summer, especially for evening slots and peka dishes. The restaurant often hosts small weddings, family dinners, and private events, thanks to the space provided by the old castle and its large stone courtyard.
