Puteus Palace Restaurant in Pučišća | Restaurant in a Restored 15th-Century Palace

Puteus Palace Restaurant is situated within the boutique hotel of the same name on St. Jerome Square, just a few steps above the waterfront of Pučišća. The restaurant occupies a restored stone palace dating back to 1467, with the main area of terraces and tables located within a sheltered courtyard and garden, hidden behind the stone walls of the hotel. This creates a much quieter atmosphere compared to restaurants directly by the waterfront, despite being practically in the town centre.

Unlike the traditional konobas in Pučišća, this establishment leans more towards a modern restaurant concept with a smaller, more precisely curated menu. The menu features a variety of fish, tuna, octopus, steaks, tartares, risottos, and several Mediterranean dishes presented in a contemporary style. Highlights include tuna steak, grilled octopus, ribeye, tuna tartar, sea bass, carpaccio, and platters of fish starters. One notable dish is the “Blue Dalmatian” sharing platter, which includes fish pâté, anchovies, sardines, tuna, and sea bass.

The restaurant also boasts a dedicated wine bar within the palace, offering a selection of Dalmatian wines, cheeses, and finger food snacks. The focus is primarily on local wines such as Plavac Mali and other Dalmatian labels, which are paired with fish and meat dishes. Cocktails, classic spirits, and a selection of modern desserts are also available.

Breakfast is an important part of the offering, as the restaurant also serves hotel guests. Mornings typically feature eggs, cheese, prosciutto, fresh fruit, bread, croissants, and simple Mediterranean combinations, with the garden terrace taking on a completely different atmosphere compared to the evening when it transforms into a dinner and wine venue.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is considerably calmer and more formal than in most establishments in Pučišća. There is no loud music or large crowds from the waterfront, as the space is enclosed within the palace courtyard. Most patrons come here for a leisurely dinner or wine in the evening, rather than a quick lunch. Guests appreciate the service, the tranquillity of the garden, and the well-maintained stone surroundings, although prices are higher than in other parts of the town, which is to be expected given the restaurant and hotel concept.

It is worth noting that the restaurant operates mainly in two shifts — lunch and dinner — and is not open all day like the pizzerias and bistros along the waterfront. Reservations are recommended during July and August, especially for evening slots in the garden.
