Puteus Palace Restaurant in Pučišća | Restaurant in a Restored 15th-Century Palace

Puteus Palace Restaurant is situated within the boutique hotel Puteus Palace on St. Jerome Square, just a few steps above the waterfront of Pučišća. The restaurant is housed in a restored stone palace dating back to 1467, with the main area of terraces and tables located within a closed courtyard and garden hidden behind the hotel’s stone walls. This creates a much quieter atmosphere compared to restaurants directly along the waterfront, even though it is practically in the town center.

Unlike traditional taverns in Pučišća, this restaurant has a more modern concept with a smaller, more precisely curated menu. The menu features a variety of fish, tuna, octopus, steaks, tartares, risottos, and several Mediterranean dishes presented in a contemporary style. Highlights include tuna steak, grilled octopus, ribeye, tuna tartar, sea bass, carpaccio, and platters of fish appetizers. One notable dish is the “Blue Dalmatian” sharing platter, which includes fish pâté, anchovies, sardines, tuna, and sea bass.

The restaurant also has a dedicated wine bar within the palace, offering a selection of Dalmatian wines, cheeses, and finger food snacks. The focus is primarily on local wines such as Plavac Mali and other Dalmatian labels that pair well with fish and meat. Cocktails, classic alcoholic beverages, and a selection of modern desserts are also available.

Breakfast is an important part of the offering as the restaurant also serves hotel guests. In the morning, typical items include eggs, cheese, prosciutto, fresh fruit, bread, croissants, and simple Mediterranean combinations, while the garden terrace takes on a different ambiance compared to the evening when it transforms into a dinner and wine setting.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is considerably quieter and more formal than in most establishments in Pučišća. There is no loud music or large crowds from the waterfront, as the space is enclosed within the palace courtyard. Most guests come here for a leisurely dinner or wine in the evening rather than a quick lunch. Patrons appreciate the service, the tranquility of the garden, and the well-maintained stone surroundings, while prices are higher than in other places in the area, which is expected given the restaurant and hotel concept.

It is important to note that the restaurant operates mainly in two shifts—lunch and dinner—and is not open all day like pizzerias and bistros along the waterfront. Reservations are recommended during July and August, especially for evening seating in the garden.
