Konoba Kopačina in Donji Humac | One of the Most Recognized Places for Brač Lamb

Konoba Kopačina is located in the center of Donji Humac, a small stone village in the interior of Brač, about a ten-minute drive from Supetar. The restaurant operates in an old stone house with a large terrace overlooking the hills and quarries in the central part of the island. The entire space feels more like a traditional family estate than a classic tourist restaurant by the sea.

Kopačina has been one of the most recognized places on Brač for traditional island cuisine for years, especially dishes made from Brač lamb. The menu includes spit-roasted lamb, vitalac, lamb chops, liver, lamb under peka, and various combinations of meat prepared on the grill or under peka. Vitalac — an old Brač dish made from lamb offal roasted on a spit — is one of the dishes that draws people here from all parts of Dalmatia.

In addition to meat, the offerings include homemade prosciutto, Brač cheeses, black risotto, fresh fish, shrimp, and pasta, but most people come primarily for the lamb and peka. Potatoes cooked under peka and homemade bread often become nearly as popular as the main dish because they absorb all the juices and aromas of the meat during the lengthy preparation.

The restaurant's terrace is particularly pleasant in the evening when the temperature in the interior of the island drops a few degrees lower than along the coast. Tables are arranged among stone walls and greenery, allowing for a slower dining pace compared to restaurants along the waterfront. The interior of the konoba features wood, stone, and old Brač details without modern decor.

The restaurant is accessible via an asphalt road through Donji Humac, and parking is available right next to the konoba and is free of charge. During the summer, the place can get quite busy, so reservations in the evening are almost mandatory, especially for peka and larger groups.

Kopačina has become an almost essential gastronomic stop on Brač over the years, and it is often recommended by locals when someone visits the island for the first time.
