Konoba Kopačina in Donji Humac | One of the Most Renowned Places for Brač Lamb

Konoba Kopačina is situated in the centre of Donji Humac, a small stone village in the interior of Brač, approximately a ten-minute drive from Supetar. The restaurant operates in an old stone house with a large terrace overlooking the hills and quarries in the central part of the island. The entire space feels more like a traditional family estate than a typical tourist restaurant by the sea.

Kopačina has long been one of the most well-known places on Brač for traditional island cuisine, particularly dishes featuring Brač lamb. The menu includes spit-roasted lamb, vitalac, lamb chops, liver, lamb under peka, and various meat combinations prepared on the grill or under peka. Vitalac — an old Brač dish made from lamb offal roasted on a spit — is one of the specialities that draws people here from all over Dalmatia.

In addition to meat, the menu features homemade prosciutto, Brač cheeses, black risotto, fresh fish, prawns, and pasta, but the majority of patrons come primarily for the lamb and peka. Potatoes cooked under peka and homemade bread often become nearly as popular as the main dish, as they absorb all the juices and aromas of the meat during the lengthy cooking process.

The restaurant's terrace is particularly pleasant in the evening when the temperature in the island's interior drops a few degrees lower than along the coast. Tables are arranged among stone walls and greenery, allowing for a more leisurely dining experience compared to restaurants by the waterfront. Inside the konoba, wood, stone, and traditional Brač details dominate, without modern decor.

The restaurant is accessible via an asphalt road through Donji Humac, and parking is available right next to the konoba at no charge. During the summer, the place can get quite busy, so evening reservations are almost essential, especially for peka and larger groups.
